HR Advice

Engagement and Culture

We offer employer-focused HR advice with CIPD qualified HR consultants to deliver effective engagement strategies.

I want to improve attendance

+ Managing sickness absence

Managing sickness absence is not easy.  It is often emotive and personal, and no two cases are the same.  Our experienced HR consultants can support you by developing sickness absence processes and policies and providing practical and hands-on support for individual issues.

+ Improving morale

High sickness absence can be an indicator of low morale.  We spend time with your employees to establish the current morale and, if it is low, we find out why. Our HR consultants will work with your leadership team and devise an action plan to monitor and measure progress and how attendance improves.

+ Supporting wellbeing

Positive staff wellbeing can increase productivity and engagement, improve people’s job satisfaction, and help to reduce absence from work.  We work with you to put in place wellbeing initiatives and programmes for the benefit of all your staff and your business.

I want happy staff

+ Supporting wellbeing

Every business works better with happy and healthy employees.  Positive staff wellbeing can increase productivity and engagement, improve people’s job satisfaction, and help to reduce absence from work. We work with you to put in place wellbeing initiatives and programmes for the benefit of all your staff and your business.

+ Mental health first aiders

Looking after our mental health is as important as looking after our physical health.  Mental health is one of the biggest causes of long-term sickness absence.  PSHR have Mental Health First Aiders available to advise you about the ways you can support those experiencing a mental health issue at work.

+ Occupational Health

We partner with Occupational Health providers to ensure you get medical advice to help you support your staff and manage risks in your workplace.

+ Line manager training

The main reason given by staff when resigning is their relationship with their manager.  Many managers have been put in a role because they work hard or are good at their technical role and you want to reward and promote them.  Often, however, they are not good at managing people.  We run effective line-management training and workshops to help your managers develop their skills when handling a whole host of staffing issues.

I want high performing teams

+ Training and development

To maximise the individual contributions of employees to a team, we provide training on what it takes to become an effective team – the typical stages of team dynamics, role expectations, conflict resolution, communication and similar issues. This training will help team members better understand issues that may occur and how they can best respond to those inevitable problems.

+ Metrics, goals and KPIs

Anything that is measured and watched is improved. Teams need a clarity of purpose that is shared among all its members. Having shared metrics and activity-based goals or numbers helps them all move in the same direction as a collective unit and helps you understand how your business is doing.

+ Processes

High-performing teams get things done, meeting and exceeding their goals and objectives – but strong performance requires tight processes:
  • Are your team meetings productive?
  • Can the group discuss issues and make related decisions quickly?
  • Are the talents and expertise of all its members in play?
Having structured and efficient processes in place allows for consistency.  Nothing can be fine-tuned until it is consistent.  We identify and devise a set of core processes tailored to your business that can be simply documented, understood and followed by all team members to help prevent inefficiencies and inconsistencies.
